어린 시절 본 애니메이션 속 신비로운 바닷속 세계와 캐릭터들의 이야기는 제 마음에 강렬한 인상을 남겼다. 오랜 시간이 흘러 다시 이 작품을 마주하게 되었을 때, 그 바닷속 세계는 여전히 생생하게 다가왔으며, 단순한 감상 이상의 깊은 해석을 통해 재현하였다.
물결은 바다의 시간과 생명을 품은 상징이며, 경계 없는 자유로움을 표현한다. 어린 시절에는 그저 신비롭기만 했던 바닷속 공간들이 이제는 각기 다른 개성과 역사를 담아 유기적으로 연결된 하나의 생명체처럼 느껴진다. 마치 물결이 끊임없이 형태를 바꾸듯, 캐릭터들이 살아가는 공간 또한 정적인 구조물이 아닌 그들이 품고 있는 꿈과 갈등, 바다의 깊이를 따라 유동적으로 변화하고 있다.
이번 작업은 단지 애니메이션 인어공주 속 장면을 재구성하는 데 그치지 않고, 각 캐릭터가 가진 고유의 이야기와 상징을 그들의 공간에 녹여내려는 시도이다. 인물들이 살아가는 바닷속 집은 단순한 거처가 아니라 그들의 내면과 삶의 일부분이 깃든 장소로, 각기 다른 세계관과 성격이 물결 속에 펼쳐져 있다.
이 공간들은 끊임없이 흐르고 변화하며, 마치 캐릭터들의 이야기가 물결을 타고 새롭게 태어나는 듯한 모습을 보여준다.

The mysterious underwater world and the characters from the animation I watched as a child left a lasting impression on my heart.
As I encountered this work again after many years, the underwater world still resonated vividly, now enriched with a deeper interpretation beyond simple nostalgia.
The waves symbolize the sea's time and life, embodying boundless freedom. The underwater spaces that once seemed merely enchanting now feel like an interconnected, organic entity, each with its own unique personality and history. Just as waves continuously shift in form, the spaces where the characters live also transform fluidly, reflecting their dreams, conflicts, and the depths of the sea, rather than remaining static structures.
This project aims not only to recreate scenes from «The Little Mermaid> but to infuse each character's story and symbolism into their surroundings. The underwater homes of these characters are not just dwellings but spaces imbued with their inner lives and part of their identities. Each unique worldview and personality unfolds within the waves, as these spaces constantly flow and transform, as if the characters' stories are reborn on the tides.
