‘예술병’은 창작자가 스스로에게 부여하는 압박과 자기비판, 그리고 예술을 향한 맹목적 집착을 은유한다. 이 작업은 예술적 열망이 어떻게 아름다움과 고통의 경계에서 태어나는지를 탐구하며, 인간이 예술을 매개로 감정의 진실과 마주하는 과정을 시각화한다.
피사체로 등장하는 무용수는 예술을 전신으로 수행하는 존재이다. 완벽한 무대를 위해 반복되는 연습과 절제 속에서 그들의 몸은 작품의 일부이자 작품 그 자체로 변모한다. 조각처럼 다듬어진 신체는 정제된 아름다움과 함께 헌신의 흔적을 담고 있으며, 그 안에는 예술을 향한 집념과 희생의 서사가 공존한다.
형태와 빛의 긴장감은 이 작업의 조형적 기반을 이룬다. 조명 구조와 간결한 구도는 신체의 구조를 부각시키면서도 감정의 표면을 정지시킨다. 인체는 감정의 그릇이자 조형적 언어로 기능하며, 빛은 살의 결을 따라 완벽함과 상처의 경계를 비춘다. 이러한 조형적 접근은 특정 작가의 영향을 넘어, 인간의 몸을 하나의 조각적 존재로 확장하려는 시도로 볼 수 있다.

“The Artistic Syndrome” is a metaphor for the pressure, self-criticism, and blind devotion that creators impose upon themselves. This work explores how artistic desire emerges between beauty and pain, revealing the moment when human emotion confronts its own truth through art.
The performers in these images embody art through their entire being. Through relentless discipline and restraint, their bodies become both a part of the artwork and the artwork itself. Sculpted like statues, their forms carry traces of devotion within refined beauty—coexisting with narratives of persistence, sacrifice, and faith in art.
Form and light construct the foundation of this work. A controlled lighting scheme and minimal composition highlight the structure of the body while holding emotion still upon its surface. The human form becomes both a vessel of feeling and a sculptural language, where light reveals the boundary between perfection and vulnerability.
A portrait here is not a record but an exchange of emotion. The subject’s expression reflects the gaze of the photographer, and that resonance extends to the viewer. Through this dialogue of gazes, empathy arises—turning the photograph into a shared emotional space.
