이 작업은 익숙한 양육 방식으로부터 분리되어, 제가 저만의 정체성과 감정 구조를 구축해가는 과정을 기록합니다.
저는 유년 시절 형성된 정서적 결핍과 불안정성을 인식하고, 그 영향으로부터 점진적 독립을 시도합니다.
이 과정은 단절이 아닌, 이해와 수용에 근거한 관계 재구성입니다.
작업의 제목 ‘나무’는 제가 태어나기 전, 어머니가 태명으로 사용한 이름에서 비롯되며 관계의 기원을 상징합니다.
자녀는 흔히 부모의 정서적 패턴과 삶의 방식을 반복하게 됩니다.
이 프로젝트는 그 반복을 인식하고 멈추기 위한 시도에서 출발했습니다.
이를 위해 저는 일반적 모방의 방향을 뒤집어, 어머니가 저의 일상적 몸짓과 행동을 따라 하도록 요청했습니다.
어머니는 이를 그대로 재현하기보다 자신의 리듬으로 해석해 수행했고, 그 차이는 관계 속 감정 구조를 낯설게 드러냈습니다.
작업은 상호 촬영을 핵심 구성으로 포함합니다.
저는 어머니를 촬영하고, 어머니 역시 저를 촬영했습니다.
이 과정에서 카메라는 결과물 생산을 넘어 관찰과 반응이 교차하는 매개로 작동하며 둘 사이의 리듬, 거리감, 태도의 차이와 유사성을 시각적으로 드러냅니다.
이 프로젝트는 어머니로부터의 ‘이탈’이 아니라, 그 관계 안에서 저만의 자리를 찾아가는 과정입니다.

This project documents my process of separating from a familiar mode of upbringing and constructing my own sense of identity and emotional structure.
I recognise the emotional deprivation and instability formed during my childhood and attempt a gradual independence from their influence.
This process is not an act of severance but one of reconstructing the relationship through understanding and acceptance.
The title Tree originates from the prenatal name my mother used before I was born, symbolising the origin of our relationship.
Children often unconsciously inherit and repeat the emotional patterns and ways of life of their parents.
This project began as an attempt to recognise and interrupt that repetition.
To reverse the usual direction of imitation, I asked my mother to reenact my everyday gestures and actions.
Rather than reproducing them precisely, she interpreted them in her own rhythm, revealing unfamiliar layers within the emotional structure of our relationship.
Mutual photography plays a central role in the work.
I photographed my mother, and she in turn photographed me.
In this process, the camera functions not merely as a tool of documentation but as a medium of observation and response, revealing visual traces of rhythm, distance, and emotional nuance between us.
