불이 지나간 자리엔

이 작업은 불이 지나간 자리에 남은 것들에 대한 사유에서 시작된다.
불에는 파괴와 정화, 소멸과 재생이 공존한다. 나는 불교의 장례 의식인 사십구재와 화전농업의 방식을 참조했다. 이 두 의식은 불을 고통의 반복이 아닌 정화의 과정으로 바라본다. 타의의 불길을 자의적 태움으로 전환함으로써, 나는 정화의 과정을 애도의 한 방법으로 삼았다.
불은 모든 것을 소멸시키듯 보이지만, 그 자리에 여전히 남아 머무는 것들이 있다. 그을린 잔해, 남은 열기, 희미한 빛의 잔광 속에는 재생의 미세한 움직임이 깃들어 있다.
나는 불이 사라진 이후에도 남아 있는 온기와 숨결, 그 미세한 지속을 통해 정화 이후의 생명성을 바라보고자 한다.
Where the Fire Has Passed

This work begins from a contemplation on what remains after the fire has passed.
Fire embodies both destruction and purification, extinction and regeneration. I referenced the Buddhist memorial ritual The Forty-Nine Day Ritual and the practice of slash-and-burn agriculture Both regard fire not as a repetition of suffering, but as a process of purification. By transforming an involuntary flame into an intentional act of burning,I embraced purification as a form of mourning.
Although fire seems to annihilate everything, there are still things that remain. Within the charred remnants, lingering heat, and faint traces of light, there dwell subtle movements of regeneration.
Through the warmth, breath, and quiet persistence that remain after the fire fades, I seek to perceive the vitality that follows purification.
